Are you ready for the 15th?
The Excitement Mounts… Anniversary Meet Has Surprises in Store

To speak with an unceasing optimist: it’ll soon be that time again! We want to have a few surprises in store for you at the 15th edition of the biggest Opel fan meet worldwide, because this meet should be noticeably different from its predecessors. So the organisational team is busy racking its brains, and you’ve all been busy making preparations too. That’s clear from the many enquiries reaching us round the clock from clubs and interested parties all across Europe. Hopefully our date of 3-6 June will hit the jackpot, because we really could do without nasty surprises from the weather. No surprise at all though is the location, as on the first June weekend the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena will once again turn into a bubbling witch’s cauldron. Once again we’re expecting over 60 000 of you and hope that our four-day meet will be one big party. We want to avoid unhappy occurrences, such as accidents or expulsions, and we can only be sure of this if we are all singing from the same song sheet! So here’s the place to remind you of our "Safety first!" campaign, with which most of you are familiar. The misuse of alcohol and all other drugs will be punished again with immediate expulsion from the meet. Checks will be carried out all the time and everywhere, so don’t feel too safe...

Old and new highlights

Taking stock of the current event highlights, we think there’s a really successful mix of traditional and new highlights. Every year we think about what we could change or do differently. But staying true to the motto "Never change a winning team!" we always come to the conclusion that we shouldn’t change anything, for example, in the competitions. Too great is the enthusiasm for the 1/8 mile sprint, drift challenge, and show & shine competition. Our team and the guys and girls from the Motorsport Arena are constantly pushed to their limits as you are really hungry for action, fun, and head-to-head duels on the asphalt. It would be daft to try to change anything about that. But we are continuously striving to improve our programme highlights and to take account of your wishes.


The Miss-Election, in conjunction with Friedrich Motorsport, has also become something of an institution, and it’s entirely up to you who will dethrone the local defender of the title, Josephine Stirba on 4 June. Breathtaking moments are also promised this year by the floodlit drift challenge in the Hasseröder bend, because the two-times defending champion Patrick Becker is going for a hatrick! Will he manage it? In any case, we’re once again placing our big party tent I in the middle of the drivers’ centre. With this, it’s right back at the heart of the action, and those long treks back to the Motorsport Arena hotel are a thing of the past.


But of course this wouldn’t be the 15th edition if there weren’t some surprises in store. So let us drop you a hint that we will be having incredible talks with incredible people! We’re not giving away anything more yet… It’s a fact that someone will be leaving the arena as a “super fan” this year. We’ll let you know in due course how exactly we’re going to find him and what his reward will be.


But it’s not just the tuning freaks who will be celebrating: the nostalgics amongst you will be coming to Oschersleben for the 10th Vintage Opel Meet, and we hope that we can once more attract many, many Opel lovers with their old jewels to Oschersleben. In any case, in the Bördeland rally we’ll be taking a trip through the surrounding area – it’s all about seeing and being seen!
