The car is sold new to a Mr. George Kotanian in San Gabriel, California, October 5th. 1964 at Ford at Las Tunas Dr. in San Gabriel. The car's basic price was $ 4589 for a Thunderbird Landau, which is the luxury model, with "wooden" door sides, vinyl roofs and special emblems on the backrest.
George ordered Electric windows, Electric seats, Selectaire air conditioning, Tinted windows, Redline tires, Rear speakers, and a lot more. So the price ended at $ 5582.20. George must have been fond of Thunderbird. He gave a 1959 Thunderbird in exchange, which he received $ 2398.08 for. First payment of $ 149.87 fell 7th of November 1964 and the 10th of November In 1966 the car was paid.
As you can understand, the documentation for this car is apparent. I got all sales contracts and bills on repairs on sale, which is actually incredible when it came to "Thomas Auto Wrecking" in 1999 and should have been scrapped !!!! Fortunately, all papers were still in the center console. The car had become a bit pale in the paint, the appearance was a sign of having been used for over 30 years, and it had an ugly bump in the passenger door. In addition to that, the engine and gearbox were destroyed, so it had virtually no value anymore.
It was very lucky, that Daryl Charlson from Chino discovered the car before it was paired and used for spare parts. He bought the whole car for .... $ 100 !!!!!! The invoice I also have. Cheap for a complete and 100% stainless Thunderbird. Daryl started giving the car a new life. A lot of spare parts were purchased, such as new engine, refurbished gearbox, a good stainless steel door without a bump and a lot more. The brakes were made and the car was separated and sent to painters.
The car was originally "Diamond Blue". A nice light blue metallic. But George chose a very light blue base color.
George also chose to drop the original vinyl roof. Unfortunately, George ran tired of the project before he finished, and a friend told him to sell it.
A danish man traveled to the us in 2005 to buy a Ford Thunderbird, but after 3 weeks of big search, he had to go back to Denmark because none of the thunderbird he had seen was in good condition. A few days after he arrives home in Denmark, his friend which he had lived with in the 3 weeks, calls and tells him that a nice thunderbird had now come for sale in the same neighborhood where he lives. This friend looked at the car, and then it was bought and shipped to Denmark.
But in 2006, another Dane is pushing the current owner to sell it and he is allowed to buy it, but due to illness, the car stood still for 11 years.
Now I have bought the car 13.01.2018. The car is in mint condition, I will finish the car and it will run 2018 when summer arrives in Denmark.
